The Sports The Oasis Activities Conference has three major sports seasons. Schools are asked to host tournaments either on their school campus or in a facility which is appropriate for the number of students who will be attending. Traveling schools stay in hotels over a weekend and have the opportunity to enjoy the culture and social atmosphere of the tournament and host city.
FALL Season: Volleyball This Olympic team sport is the first major event on the Oasis calendar. Students at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level have the opportunity to travel for competition at one of the Oasis Schools.
Academic Games The Academic Games Tournament consists of seven Olympiads in which students in teams of 3-4 compete for points at the JV and Varsity level. The Olympiads test the students knowledge of Current Events, Math, Geography, Spelling, Science and Engineering, and Fine Arts with a quick answer Quiz Bowl round that tests student in all categories.
For the 2016-17 school year, Swimming is an invitational event on the Oasis Schedule for the schools that offer swimming during the fall season.
Soccer The soccer tournaments are positioned in season two of the Oasis calendar. Students at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level have the opportunity to travel for competition at one of the Oasis schools.
Basketball The basketball tournaments are positioned at the end of season two of the Oasis calendar. Students at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level have the opportunity to travel for competition at one of theOasis schools. Speech & Debate Invitational @ BBS Speech involves a presentation by one, two, or sometimes a group of students that is judged against a similar type of presentation by others in a round of competition. Speech events range from limited preparation events that require extensive knowledge of current events to dramatic and humorous interpretation, which challenge students to find powerful moments in literature and recreate them for an audience.
Track & Field This Olympic style competition is one of the largest tournaments on the Oasis calendar, with teams bringing thirty to forty students for competition. Students at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level have the opportunity to compete in Cross Country and Track & Field events over three days of competition. The Oasis Activities Conference is lucky enough to have member schools which boast the facilities to host such an event on site, creating a wonderful community on campus.
Badminton Badminton is positioned at the end of season three in the Oasis calendar. Students at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition. Surviving knockout competition and winning a medal is everyone’s goal at this tournament.
MUN Invitationals @ AISE & RVIS Model United Nations is an activity in which student’s role play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. At the end of the conference, outstanding delegates in each committee are recognized and given an award certificate. Model United Nations involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
